Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking an experienced Race Engine - Dyno Technician.

Summary:  The dyno technician installs engines on the Dynamometer to evaluate optimization, diagnosis, and evaluation of the race engine to ensure performance meets or exceeds specifications.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Responsible for following test requests to perform the firing engine test, including evaluation of the engine, analysis of components, and documentation of results.

  • Requires complex knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, maintenance, and repair.

  • Responsible for using Adapt, Excel, Atlas, System Monitor, Team Center, Motorsports Manager, and HMS engine interface software to evaluate, document, and communicate test results.

  • Document test results on a run-to-run basis, including communication of desired improvements and product quality.

  • Test cell maintenance and repair that includes component fabrication and/or machining.

  • Responsible for interfacing with HMS car and engine engineering to support engine and vehicle development.

  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment to ensure maximum performance. Also responsible for cleaning the shop and ensuring safe housekeeping on an on-going basis.

Education/Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a production environment is desired. Extensive mechanical and technical aptitude desired.
  • Technical training in automotive manufacturing a plus.

  • Must be a team player and effectively utilize strong communication skills with others in the department and organization. 

 

Attendance Expectations: 

  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance.  Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed.

Physical Demands: 

  • Requires vision (near, distance, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, hearing protection.
  • Constantly manually manipulates, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries up to 20 pounds, and pushes/pulls 12 pounds or less.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches outward, reaches above shoulder, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally climbs, crawls, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds. 

 

Environment Demands: 

  • Primarily works indoors.
