Job Title: Formaris CAD Technician – Product Development

Position Summary
Symbiotic Services is seeking an experienced Formaris CAD Technician to join a Product Development team. This role focuses on digital pattern development using Formaris (Lectra Software) and requires advanced expertise in pattern creation, grading, fabric variants, and technical pattern management. The ideal candidate will collaborate with design, development, and manufacturing teams to create accurate, production-ready digital patterns while supporting custom product development.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Import fabric patterns into Formaris (Lectra) from AutoCAD and other product development software.
  • Create and manage link points, grading variants, and size variants based on fabric widths and product specifications.
  • Develop accurate, production-ready digital patterns that meet manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborate with design, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure pattern accuracy and functionality.
  • Support custom product development by creating and modifying detailed patterns to meet customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot pattern development and digital drafting issues while maintaining organized documentation and file management.
  • Ensure all patterns comply with company fit, grading, and quality standards.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with Formaris (Lectra Software) is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or comparable product development CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of pattern grading, sizing, and fabric width variations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with custom or made-to-measure products is a plus.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Upholstery manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Cushion and foam (poly) experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of spring-up development, including 8-way hand tie, sinuous spring, and webbing construction.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or Solid Edge preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
