- Remove cover from bins and separate (unbundle) to prepare for sewing.
- Inspect fabric/material for any flaws and/or defects.
- Selects thread according to colors of fabric.
- Joins pieces together according to sewing notes using sewing machine.
- Aligns pieces and any trimmings following seams, edges or markings on parts.
- Checks for any puckering or bad seams.
- Scans ticket to show work is complete.
- Places completed cover in assigned buggy.
- Responsible for fixing their own repairs before starting on new piece.
- Maintains neat and orderly work station.
- Wears required safety glasses.
- Works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Department Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
- Need basic knowledge of furniture sewing
- Has demonstrated a willingness to learn and a high level of cooperation
- Preferred student at CVCC Furniture Academy with exposure to furniture sewing methods but not limited to.
- Excellent Attendance Record Good work history – verified by current and prior managers
 Essential Skills and Experience: - Must be able to read ticket and job notes for directions.
- Must be knowledgeable in sewing methods and be able to complete job quality specifications.
- Sew piece according to sewing notes.
- English required for understanding of ticket, job notes and directions.

Weights.                      - Push / Pull: Frequently pushing or pulling fabric to/from/on workstation weighing less than 10 lbs.
- Sitting: Must be able to stand 7+ hours. Â Must be able to stand continuously for majority of work schedule.
- Reach / Handle / Grasp: Repetitive use of feet and hands required. Must be able to use sewing machine and reach all areas of workstation. Repetitive pinching/pulling of fabric/leather depending on your job.
- Tool Usage:Â Required to operate a sewing machine and use scissors on/off during entire shift to cut welt cords and clip corners.
- Environment:Â Indoors, environmentally controlled; heated / air-conditioned.
- Vision: Â Color Determination, observation of patterns, fabric textures and dye tones for quality control.
- Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
