The Process Project Engineer supports MBA Energy & Industrial’s Process Division by assisting Project Managers and Superintendents in the planning, coordination, and execution of oil & gas and industrial projects. This position plays a critical role in managing project documentation, procurement, scheduling, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical ability, organization, and initiative in driving project success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination, tracking, and documentation.
- Procure and coordinate project materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze and acquire subcontractor proposals and material quotes to support bid and execution phases.
- Process and track submittals, schedules, RFI responses, and project correspondence.
- Review and negotiate proposal pricing from subcontractors and material vendors.
- Clarify subcontractor scope of work and assist with cost estimate preparation.
- Collect, organize, and maintain weekly project reports, photos, and progress documentation.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate project progress, quality, and adherence to safety standards.
- Review design drawings and coordinate with the design team for constructability and compliance.
- Support project meetings, take detailed notes, and distribute meeting minutes to stakeholders.
- Maintain and update project logs, document control systems, and submittal registers.
- Assist in general contract and subcontract administration, including change orders and cost reporting.
- Identify and evaluate potential new vendors and suppliers for project needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
- 1–3 years of experience supporting industrial or oil & gas construction projects.
- General knowledge of construction principles and practices, particularly in oil & gas or industrial projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with document control systems, submittal tracking, and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar technical drawing and markup tools.
- Understanding of P&IDs, isometric drawings, and general engineering documentation.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional travel to active job sites for project meetings and inspections (approximately 10% travel). The position requires the ability to walk job sites, climb stairs, and occasionally lift or carry light materials. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as project demands require.
