POSITION SUMMARY:
The Speech Therapist serves as the facility speech therapist conducting patient screens, evaluations, and therapeutic interventions.
JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
ï‚§Â Â Â Performs speech therapy for facility patients as assigned.
ï‚§Â Â Â Screens, evaluates, and develops individualized treatment plans.
ï‚§Â Â Â Evaluates patients within two to three working days of physician referral, depending on the level of care.
ï‚§Â Â Â Provides age-appropriate therapeutic interventions.
ï‚§Â Â Â Evaluates patient response to treatment and document the treatment plan as necessary.Â
ï‚§Â Â Â Provides information retreatment and updates to staff, physicians, and family members
ï‚§Â Â Â Documents treatment and outcomes daily according to accepted regulatory, corporate, and professional guidelines.
ï‚§Â Â Â Provides patient and family education on tasks and resources to assist with continued functional independence.
ï‚§Â Â Â Communicates results of speech-language evaluations and recommendations to the treatment team and patient/family.
ï‚§Â Â Â Participates in patient care conferences as necessary to provide updated patient progress and goal revisions if needed.
ï‚§Â Â Â Serves as a resource in areas of speech-language pathology.Â
ï‚§Â Â Â Conducts in-services as requested.
ï‚§Â Â Â Coordinates treatment activity with other disciplines and team members as appropriate.
ï‚§Â Â Â Contributes to the development of improved efficiency and productivity of unity clinical functions.
ï‚§Â Â Â Offers positive suggestions/solutions to improve service delivery and unit operations.
ï‚§Â Â Â Assists with the development of student programs as requested.
ï‚§Â Â Â Contributes to the delivery of cost-effective care.
ï‚§Â Â Â Utilizes resources appropriately and uses/maintains equipment to prolong working life.
ï‚§Â Â Â Participates in discharge planning.
ï‚§Â Â Â Documents and charges daily therapeutic units timely and accurately.
ï‚§Â Â Â Communicates with the Director of Clinical Services regarding department programs, goals, objectives, problems, and successes.
ï‚§Â Â Â Supervise SLPA in direct patient care and patient-related activities.
ï‚§Â Â Â Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- The Speech-Language Pathology Educational Standards Board accredits a master's level program or whose course work and practice meet course ASLHA certification.
EXPERIENCE:
ï‚§Â Â Â Preferred experience working with the neurologic population.
ï‚§Â Â Â Minimum of one year working with adult and adolescent populations, preferably in a hospital setting.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
ï‚§Â Â Â Must be licensed by the state of Texas in Speech-Language Pathology
ï‚§Â Â Â Must be certified in AHA BLS
ï‚§Â Â Â Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility
