We are looking for an Engineer (or Designer) who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position. This individual needs to have an understanding of the technical aspects of plumbing & fire protection design engineering including but not limited to plumbing, process utilities, and compressed gas systems design. The ability to successfully handle multiple real-time complex projects and operational tasks as well as maintain a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are a must for this role. The Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer III will be mentored by the senior level and mid-level Engineering team members and will assist with the development of design documents such as P&ID’s, utility consumption summaries, plant & process utility systems,  piping plans, equipment/construction specifications, etc. Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.

Responsibilities
- Assisting with the generation of Data Sheets, Material Requisitions & Inquiry Packages for procurement of equipment
- Assisting with generation of Technical Bid Tab Evaluation of vendors in compliance with Client specifications
- Editing Technical Specifications in compliance with Client requirements
- Development of each package through Kick-off meetings, Design Reviews, FAT’s etc.
- Interfacing with vendors and other disciplines ensuring the highest level of service is provided
- Delivery of agreed design scope within budget hours and schedule
- Assisting in the development of plumbing and fire protection systems including sanitary and vent systems, storm systems, process waste systems, lab and vent systems, domestic water systems, process and lab gas systems, sprinkler design and wet/dry/pre action systems designs.
- Developing project documents (e.g. calculations, reports and construction drawings and specifications, etc.) for clients, according to regulatory and industry standards.
- Coordination with other internal disciplines as well as external team members (e.g. vendors, clients, and contractors).
- Code analysis and application related to the Plumbing and Fire Protection disciplines
- Researching plumbing / utility materials and methods as required
- Assisting with design development of project packages and coordinating with the design team at the direction of the Lead Engineer
- Editing plumbing / utility equipment and construction specifications
- Equipment selections based on recommendations of Lead Engineer and completion of equipment schedules
- Developing static pressure and pump head calculations where applicable
- Sizing and developing layouts for underground and above ground piping plans
- Developing riser diagrams, equipment plans, utility distribution plans, and system details
- Performing construction assistance in the form of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits
- Special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree. (If a Designer equvalient working experinece)
- 5 + Years of design experience in a design firm setting (preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors) Â
- Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit
- FE registration and/or pursuing, or obtained, Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of GMP Manufacturing environments is preferred
- The ability to travel as needed for client and project development
