The Opportunity:
As Vice President, Corporate Tax Compliance, you will be responsible for managing tax compliance and investor tax reporting for our regulated investment companies, as well as overseeing income tax provisions for our corporate entities. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Subchapter M, providing accurate and timely tax reporting, managing third-party tax providers, and leading process improvements through technology and automation.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Oversee federal, state and local tax compliance for regulated investment companies, including excise tax and investor reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Subchapter M asset diversification, income and distribution tests.
- Oversee interim and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 for regulated investment companies, publicly traded company and corporations within fund structures, ensuring compliance with internal controls to mitigate risk.
- Assist, as needed, with reviewing tax compliance for closed-end funds and management company.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate the impact on operations and strategies.
- Manage relationships with third-party tax service providers to ensure efficient operations and accurate deliverables.
- Collaborate with investment management, accounting, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax issues, positions, policies and guidelines are documented and implemented correctly and consistently.
- Leverage technology and automation tools to review, streamline, and enhance tax processes, identify opportunities to implement best practices.
- Respond to investor requests and inquiries from tax authorities.
Your background will include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; advanced degree (Master of Taxation, CPA or related) is desirable.
- Minimum 8 years of tax experience with regulated investment companies, investment funds and corporations.
- Experience reviewing Forms 1120-RIC, 1120, 1065 and related tax filings.
- Strong understanding of Subchapter M regulated investment company principles.
- Experience with income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple deliverables under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
