JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, promotes, & implements a diversified Social Recreation Program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare youth for success
ï‚§ Promotes and encourages participation in daily recreational activities and programs and participation in special event programs and tournaments.
ï‚§ Orients new members to equipment, acceptable social behaviors, scheduled programs and special events, games and tournament rules, and opportunities as well as club safety, program and disciplinary rules.
ï‚§ Provides guidance and role modeling to members

Program
ï‚§ Implements, monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities for members.
ï‚§ Develops and posts weekly and monthly program plans.
ï‚§ Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members and quality in programs.
ï‚§ Recognizes club members for program participation and achievement.
ï‚§ Maintains records to track attendance and participation.

Supervision
ï‚§ Maintains order and discipline of club members.
ï‚§ Supervises and trains volunteers and program assistants.
ï‚§ Ensures a productive work environment by participating in weekly club staff meetings.

Supplies
ï‚§ Monitors supply needs and orders required supplies through approved vendors and within budget.
ï‚§ Keeps supply room neat and orderly.

Faculty
ï‚§ Insures program area is attractive, neat and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current.
ï‚§ Makes and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.

Other Responsibilities
ï‚§ Participates as part of a team to run quality programs by helping out where needed or directed, which may include driving the club van.
ï‚§ Participates in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
ï‚§ High School diploma required. College with a major in health and physical education preferred.
ï‚§ Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of three years where:
o There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
o Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging social recreation experiences.
ï‚§ Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
ï‚§ Knowledge of youth development.
ï‚§ Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
ï‚§ Ability to deal with the general public.
ï‚§ Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
ï‚§ Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
ï‚§ Utilizes resources for free and donated supplies and encourages donations from community contacts.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Community-based location that serves youth, families and community members daily. Frequent host site for organizational and communal meetings and events. Frequent contact with employees, community-based organizations, families, Club members, and community members. Some required travel to Club locations and community partners. Frequent deadlines. Atypical work schedule, including evening and weekend work. The position requires walking and climbing stairs; Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
