POSITION SUMMARY

 Responsible for all aspects of assigned patient accounts after charge entry to final resolution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Greet and check in patients to include: maintaining pre-authorization, and collecting co-pay, co-insurance and other balances owed
  • Verify and update insurance information and demographics
  • Make/pull patient charts
  • Check/Review insurance eligibility
  • Resolve patient balance related questions
  • Determine and review financial responsibilities and insurance coverage with patients
  • Review surgery costs and establishes payment plans for patient portion
  • Obtain all precertification
  • Respond to correspondence from payors and patients
  • Schedule and register patients for surgery
  • Distribute morning/afternoon surgery center schedules
  • Distribute surgery schedule add on and cancellation correspondence
  • Complete daily cash report and prepare deposits
  • Respond to all correspondence from patients
  • Receive deliveries
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience: Previous healthcare billing experience is preferred.

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Basic computer skills required. Must be able to type.
