The Opportunity

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overall shift performance within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. This role leads daily execution of the production plan while ensuring safety, quality, and operational targets are achieved.

Success in this role is measured through strong operational leadership, accountability, and consistent adherence to GMP and food safety standards.

Controlling waste, scrap, and rework.
Maintaining strict GMP and food safety compliance.
Reducing downtime through proactive problem-solving.
Driving crew accountability and performance.
Maintaining audit-ready documentation at all times.

Responsibilities:

Production Execution & Performance

Execute daily production schedules safely and efficiently.
Monitor and achieve shift KPIs including output, yield, labour efficiency, downtime, and scrap.
Ensure proper line clearances and changeovers.
Identify and resolve recurring production issues.

Quality & Compliance

Enforce GMP, SOP, and sanitation standards consistently.
Oversee sanitation activities in accordance with 21 CFR Part 111.
Ensure batch records, QC checks, and documentation are accurate and complete.
Escalate deviations, out-of-specification results, and non-conformances immediately

Team Leadership

Set clear expectations for performance and workplace conduct.
Provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action when required.
Address attendance and performance concerns proactively.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Problem Solving

Investigate downtime events and identify root causes.
Collaborate with Maintenance and Quality teams to prevent recurring issues.
Support Lean initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Communication & Reporting

Deliver structured and accurate shift reports.
Communicate operational risks early.
Ensure effective shift handovers and crew transitions.

Sanitation Oversight

Supervise and support sanitation activities within assigned areas and shifts to ensure cleaning tasks are completed as required and in compliance with GMP, food safety, and company procedures.
Ensure sanitation priorities are communicated clearly to employees.
Verify that areas, equipment, moulds, trays, and production spaces are cleaned and ready for use.
Escalate any sanitation concerns or incomplete tasks to Production Management.

Qualifications:

Experience & Education

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries preferred.

Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of GMP requirements.
Experience with ERP systems (Vicinity, Great Plains, or similar).
Proven ability to lead teams in a 24/7 operational environment.

Competencies

Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
