COST ACCOUNTANT


THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. MUST BE LOCATED IN THE DFW AREA

 

OVERVIEW

The Cost Accountant is responsible for planning, analyzing, and reporting on cost-related activities to ensure accurate financial data and support strategic decision-making. This role involves monitoring manufacturing costs, preparing cost variance analyses, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze production costs, material usage, labor, and overhead expenses to ensure accurate cost allocation. 
  • Prepare and maintain cost accounting records and reports in D365, prepare cost estimates for new products and processes.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual cost variance analyses and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Assist in developing and monitoring standard costs and updating them as necessary. 
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing cost-related insights, conducting margin analysis and profitability studies.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Participate in internal audits and assist with external audit requests related to cost accounting.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 2–5 years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferred. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
 
Up to 10% travel may be required.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
 
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to walk for prolonged periods of time, frequently bending, climbing, rotating, squatting, reaching, kneeling, or stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and periods of computer use.

 

Employees may be frequently exposed to heat/cold, heights, gases, vibration, dust, chemicals, odors, dampness, fumes, and noises.
