ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING ENGINEER I

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. MUST BE LOCATED IN THE DFW AREA.

OVERVIEW

Responsible for the design of new printed circuit boards based on customer requirements and upgrading existing printed circuit boards based on cost to availability concerns. Perform design engineering support as well as diversified design, building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing duties to assist the department manager in carrying out assigned department responsibility.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains documentationin accordance withquality assurance standards.
  • Preparesdocuments for department manager review and approval including, but not
  • limited to design support, engineering requests, test plans and reports, data sheets, APQP documentation, test equipment design,constructionand repair, and reviews/evaluates new or modified designs and competing products.
  • Supports the design of new electronic and sensor products or modifications of existing electronic and sensor products to meet the needs of customers.
  • Constructs prototypes and pre-production samples of new or modified products.
  • Designs, constructs and troubleshootsfixtures and test equipment to support manufacturing.
  • Orders parts and supplies asrequiredfor supporting projects.
  • Works with outside consultants and test labs to complete projects.
  • Prepares specifications, control plans, technical data sheets, test plans, and test products and prepares test reports to support design and development engineering for internal and external use.
  • Writes technical data sheets for internal and external use.
  • Works with customers to coordinate new work,resolvescomplaints or difficulties.
  • Assistsin preparation and checking of engineering drawings and any other documentationrequiredto support product Engineering, Production and Maintenance.
  • Creates schematics; generates Gerber files asrequiredfor new PCB applications including drill plans,silkscreensandbill ofmaterials. Knowledge of CAD toolsrequired.
  • Compiles parts lists, orders components, assembles and tests prototype PCB assemblies.
  • Performs analysis,simulationsand testing of electronic systems and prepares corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides technical specifications and drawings forprocuringPCB assemblies for new products
  • Preparesengineering requests as required for product maintenance.
  • Evaluates competing products for quality and reliability.
  • Preparesappropriate APQPdocumentation.
  • Assistothers in meeting all customer requirements and expectations.
  • Maintains work area in clean,orderlyand safecondition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates
  • Serves on related committees andparticipatesin meetings asrequired.
  • Actively supports the defined goals andobjectivesof the company.
  • Projects a professional, total-quality image in all aspects of this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineeringor related discipline.
  • 5+ years ofelectronicsdesign and testing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of test equipment and its operation
  • Familiar with DMM, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Power Supplies (both low and high voltage), and any other equipmentrequiredto complete daily duties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PCB Schematic and Layout Software
  • Familiarwith AutoCAD or similar drafting software for drawing creation.
  • Good reading,writingand verbal skills
  • Must be able todemonstrateproficiencyin troubleshooting tocomponentlevel (analog/digital circuit troubleshooting, microprocessor circuits, power supplies, etc.) with minimalassistance.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor programming using C compiler preferred
  • Solid soldering skillsrequired.
  • Proven experience of PCB rework with thru-hole and SMD electronic components.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written business communication skills.

Up to 10% travel may be required

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to walk for prolonged periods of time, frequently bending, climbing, rotating, squatting, reaching, kneeling, or stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and periods of computer use.
