Job Summary

Here at Brinker International, our ServiceNow practice is growing, and we’re excited to build an amazing team to support our expanding capabilities. The ServiceNow Lead Application Developer is a driving force in shaping the quality, consistency, and direction of development across our ServiceNow platform. This position blends hands on expertise with inspiring leadership, to deliver smart, scalable, well-designed solutions in an Agile Scrum framework. You’ll stay close to the work—spending at least 30% of your time building high impact solutions, including custom scoped applications with App Engine—while also guiding strategy, championing best practices, and helping the team grow stronger every day. We’re looking for someone with deep platform mastery, a passion for excellence, and the enthusiasm to elevate our development capabilities to the next level.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish an application development governance framework, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with ServiceNow best practices. 
  • Partners with architecture, security, and technical teams to ensure governance follows enterprise design principles. 
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure proposed solutions maximize out of box capability, minimize customization, are consistent with platform best practices and align with the platform roadmap. 
  • Define coding standards, development guidelines, and quality assurance processes. Audit developed code, scripts and configurations to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, upgrade-safe, and compliant with best practices, guidelines, and standards. 
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and technical debt, recommending remediation strategies and initiative-taking optimization. 
  • Foster a collaborative, high energy development culture by leading engaging workshops, sharing knowledge openly, and sparking continuous peer learning. Coach the team on solution design, scripting, integrations, and troubleshooting. 
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies like sprint planning, refinement, and estimation while championing agile engineering practices like automated testing and iterative delivery. Partner closely with product owners to turn business needs into clear, actionable stories for developers and testers. 
  • Hands On Development (30%+) - Design and build advanced ServiceNow solutions, including custom scoped apps using App Engine Studio. Create scripts, integrations (REST/SOAP/MID Server), UI components, and workflow automations. Tackle complex issues, lead root cause analysis, and take on backlog items that need deep technical expertise. 
  • Stay current with the latest ServiceNow releases, trends, features, and App Engine innovations, to recommend new capabilities, automation, adoption, and optimization opportunities.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. 

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in ServiceNow development, administration, or platform engineering 

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior or lead technical role on the ServiceNow platform within a corporate environment. Restaurant or retail experience, preferred. 

  • ServiceNow certifications (e.g., CSA, CAD, CIS in relevant modules) preferred. Skills 

  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences; educate department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change. 

  • Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to influence a team to push the solutions and progress. 

  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation. 

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and makes timely, evidence-based decisions and iterates quickly. Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily. 

  • Deep hands-on experience with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide), integrations, data models, and workflows 

  • Experience with ServiceNow architecture, best practices, and upgrade strategies 

  • Proven experience establishing development standards and governance frameworks. 

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and uplift technical teams. 

  • Background in Agile / Scrum delivery models.
