YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Estimator I is responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electricalconstructionprojects.TheEstimatorcontrolstheconstructioncostsbycollectingandstudying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring they know what is required to successfully bid and win the project. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Reviewproposalspecificationsanddrawingstodeterminescopeofworkandrequiredcontentsof estimate. 

  • Prepareestimatesbycalculatingcompletetakeoffofscopeofworkandenterintocomputer estimating system; review computer printout for accuracy and completeness. 

  • Requestquotesfromsuppliersforequipmentandmaterials. 

  • Identifyqualifiedsuppliers/subcontractorsandsolicitquotes.Reviewquotesforcompletenesswith plans and specifications 

  • Itemizeandquantifyallincidentalsnecessaryinpreparingthebidpackagesincludingsub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies 

  • Priortotheissuingoftheformalbidpackage,providetheChiefEstimator withadetailedreviewof scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package. 

  • Afterthesuccessfulbidatprojectturnover,meetwithProjectManagementtofullyexplainthe estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project. 

  • Responsibleforthetimelycompletionofallclient-requireddocuments. 

  • Draftscopeletterinclusions,exclusions,andclarificationsforestimates 

  • Maintainfilesofworkingdocumentsasback-upforestimatefigures 

  • Thedutiesandresponsibilitiesareintendedtodescribethegeneralnatureandscopeofworkbeing performed by this position.This is not acomplete listing and other duties will beassigned basedon the position's role within the business unit. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:  

  • Advancedknowledgeofassigneddiscipline,constructiontechnology,estimatingtechniquesand cost control 

  • Interpretcomputerizedcostdataandsystems

  • Performarithmeticcalculationsrequiredforestimating 

  • Readandinterpretblueprintsand/orengineeringdesigndrawings 

  • Identifyandmeetcustomers’needs,expectations,andrequirements 

  • Solvepracticalproblemsanddealwithavarietyofspecificvariablesinsituationswhere only limited standardization exists 

  • ProficientinusingacomputerandMicrosoftOffice(Outlook,Word,Excel,etc.) 

  • Prioritizeandmanagemultipletasksandchangeprioritiesasnecessary 

  • Workunderpressureandadapttochangingrequirementswithapositiveattitude 

  • Oralandwrittencommunicationskillsasrequiredforthe position 

  • Self-motivated,proactiveandaneffectiveteamplayer 

  • Interacteffectivelyandprofessionallywithalllevelsofemployees,bothmanagementand staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

  • Bachelor’sdegreeinConstructionManagement,Engineering,orarelatedfield 

  • Minimum2years’experienceestimatingcommercialconstructionprojects,preferablyinelectrical construction 

  • ExperienceinAccubidestimatingsoftwarepreferred 

  • ExperienceinCADor3Dsoftwarepreferred 

  • Canbeacombinationofeducation,training,andrelevant experience 

TRAVEL: 

  • Upto25% 

WORKINGCONDITIONS:  

  • Generalworkenvironment-sittingforextended periods, standing,walking,typing,carrying,pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. 

  • Noiselevelistypically lowtomedium;it canbeloudonajob site. 

  • Occasionalliftingofupto30lbs.
