What You’ll Do:Â
Serve to support your practice team, setting the bar for providing high-level, competent veterinary support care and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture to work collaboratively with your peers and deliver the pet parent WOW experience.  Â
Responsible for implementing the outlined policies and procedures, utilizing integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given skill set. Â
Perform and assist with diagnostics (fecals, cytology, urinalysis, bloodwork)Â
Draw blood from common venipuncture sitesÂ
Operate and maintain in-house lab machinesÂ
Obtain and process pre-surgical diagnostics (ECG, bloodwork, etc.)Â
Lead anesthesia induction and provide advanced surgical monitoring and supportÂ
Operating room prep and assistanceÂ
Prepare surgical equipment and supplies, maintaining asepsisÂ
Position patients and take diagnostic radiographs with proper collimation and understand radiology safetyÂ
Provide surgical assistance under direct supervision of DVMÂ
Advanced dentistry - perform dental prophylaxis and take full-mouth dental x-raysÂ
Place IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, and provide inpatient careÂ
Calculate, prepare, and reconstitute medications; manage controlled substancesÂ
Maintain controlled substance logs and assist with inventory needsÂ
Provide advanced patient and critical care (triage, oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring)Â
Aid in resuscitation effortsÂ
Obtain thorough patient histories and ensure complete SOAP documentationÂ
Support veterinarians to ensure safe patient treatment in alignment with Chewy Vet Care’s Standards of CareÂ
Lead technician appointments and mentor othersÂ
PIMS administrative super-user; aid othersÂ
Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOCs)Â
Assist practice manager with communicating on inventory needs.  Â
Clean workspaces after every patient or patient lab sample interaction. Â
Participation in self-development courses and Chewy Vet Care required compliance training.  Â
Perform related duties and assignments as directed by management.  Â
Â
What you’ll need:Â
Veterinary technician certification or licensure preferred (or eligibility to obtain). Â
Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary technician skills checklist for Veterinary Technician I, II and III  Â
Minimum of 7 years of practice experience (general practice & surgery); 3+ years leadership or mentorship experience preferred.  Â
Minimum of 1 year experience with inventory management. Â
Proven ability to lead by example in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care. Â
Strong leadership and team collaboration skills, with a passion for supporting and developing veterinary professionals. Â
Excellent practice judgment and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment. Â
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster a positive, transparent, and inclusive team culture. Â
Ability to analyze practice-level performance metrics and collaborate with practice leadership to drive improvements. Â
Skilled in time management, delegation, and maintaining a healthy team workflow. Â
Business curiosity or financial acumen with a willingness to learn operational metrics and contribute to practice success. Â
Passion for continuous learning, innovation, and elevating the standards of veterinary care. Â
Demonstrated professionalism and ability to represent the practice and Chewy Vet Care positively within the local community. Â
Position may require some travel. Â

Physical job requirements: Â
Standing or walking up to 80% per shift. Â
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Â
Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift. Â
Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift. Â
Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.  Â
