The Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) seeks a Programmer to assist in the creation and modification of virtual experiences for the Future Realities Research Lab (FRL). This is a temporary position for twelve (12) months.

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Programmer 1 analyzes, designs, writes, tests, and implements new programs and applications. Moreover, the incumbent maintains and revises existing systems and provides technical assistance to end-users and others within Information Technology.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the creation and modification of virtual experiences.
  • Create or integrate 3D models for items requested for the experiences.
  • Meet frequently with FRL contacts to gather feedback, outline tasks, and ultimately implement their vision for the experiences.
  • Maintain documentation with processes related to creating the experiences.

Department Specific Qualifications 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Experience: 

One (1) year experience working in virtual reality development. Experience uploading custom content to the STEAM platform and with VR and VR interaction/movement metaphors. Any appropriate combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Unity game engine.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the STEAM and other VR platforms.
  • Interpersonal skills.
