Michael Baker International is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Design Associate to join the team in our Moon Township, PA office. As a part of our Water Practice, the successful candidate will be in our growing Industrial and Commercial Water group. They will work within an interdisciplinary team including mechanical engineers, Electrical engineers, GIS, estimators, project managers, vendors, and support drafting/design staff to ensure each integrated deliverable meets the client requirements.
- Develop plans, specifications, reports, estimates, and conceptual inputs for water/wastewater and water‑resources projects, including design calculations for pumps, piping, treatment processes, and heat‑transfer systems, as well as analysis, drafting, and construction‑document production for complex designs.Â
- Prepare SCADA Sequences of Operations and use CADD tools to produce PFDs, P&IDs, construction drawings, and complete preliminary/final plan sets while enforcing CAD standards through peer reviews.Â
- Collaborate with internal/external engineering teams to produce design plans, reports, drawings, BOMs, and technical details; participate in design and quality reviews; and advise clients on manpower, cost estimates, and schedules.Â
- Execute tasks from senior designers, prepare detailed and layout drawings for complex or original designs and determine material types, specifications, and quantities.Â
- Coordinate with departments, disciplines, clients, vendors, project managers, and engineers to support deliverables and resolve priority conflicts.Â
- Prepare Installation Operations Manuals, integrate vendor equipment into system architecture and control schemes, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards (utility, DOT, and other agencies).Â
- Read and interpret orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) designs and apply standard drafting/design principles throughout coordinated project execution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field required
- 0-2 years of engineering design, 3D modeling and CADD workstation experience
- EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and AutoCAD/Civil 3D
The approximate compensation range for this position is $65,207 - $78,335 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
