ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a driven, sales-minded Recruiting Manager to lead our Owner Operator (OO) recruitment team. This is a pivotal role that will transform how we attract and engage owner operators — shifting our team from a reactive, inbound-only model to a proactive, sales-driven recruitment engine. You will be both a hands-on leader and a strategic thinker, responsible for building pipeline, elevating your team’s sales capabilities, and owning the full outreach and marketing strategy for Owner Operator recruitment.
The ideal candidate sees obstacles as puzzles to solve and opportunities where others see routine. If you’ve led sales or recruiting teams, love coaching, and thrive in a fast-moving environment, we want to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pipeline Development & Outreach
- Build and execute a proactive outreach strategy to reduce dependency on inbound leads and develop new, sustainable recruiting pipelines.
- Identify untapped channels and markets for OO recruitment including referrals, industry events, trade associations, digital platforms, and targeted advertising.
- Set and track pipeline KPIs; ensure the funnel remains consistently full to meet recruiting targets.
Team Leadership & Sales Coaching
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of recruiters, evolving their approach from transactional processing to consultative, relationship-based selling.
- Develop and implement structured sales training programs, call coaching, and performance frameworks to sharpen the team’s persuasion, objection-handling, and closing skills.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, team huddles, and performance reviews with a focus on continuous improvement and growth.
Marketing & Brand Strategy
- Own the Owner Operator recruitment marketing plan from strategy through execution, including digital campaigns, content, and outreach collateral.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to craft compelling messaging that resonates with prospective OOs and differentiates us in a competitive market.
- Continuously analyze campaign performance and refine strategies based on data and market feedback.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Report to the Director of Contractor Support with regular updates on team performance, pipeline health, and marketing ROI.
- Identify and remove barriers to recruiting success; proactively present solutions and creative approaches to leadership.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor practices, and regulatory considerations affecting OO recruitment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2–3+ years of experience in sales leadership, recruiting leadership, or a combination of both.
- Proven track record of building or growing a sales/recruiting pipeline from the ground up.
- Demonstrated ability to coach individuals and teams on consultative sales techniques, including prospecting, objection handling, and closing.
- Experience developing and executing outbound outreach or marketing strategies.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions and optimize performance.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work on-site at our Pittsburgh, PA headquarters.
Preferred
- Experience in the transportation, logistics, or trucking industry — particularly with owner operators, independent contractors, or fleet recruitment. (Strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with CRM tools and applicant tracking systems.
- Background in both B2B/B2C sales and talent acquisition.
- Experience managing external marketing vendors or agencies.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first 90 days, you will have assessed our current recruiting process, established baseline metrics, and developed a 6-month outreach and marketing roadmap. Within 6 months, your team will be actively executing on outbound strategies, demonstrating measurable improvement in sales behaviors, and the pipeline will reflect a healthy mix of inbound and outbound leads. Within a year, OO recruitment will operate as a high-performing sales function — proactive, data-driven, and consistently exceeding targets.
