Registered Nurse Outpatient Surgery

Full-Time | 1st Shift 

BHCOR-Surgical Services I Corbin, KY 

 

OSC consists of Preop unit with 6 bays, intra op, phase 2 recovery has 4 bays, isolation room has 2 bays, they get the patients ready for endoscopy procedures, perform the procedure, recovery the patient, and discharge the patients from that area. 

Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical and procedural services. Responsibilities include preoperative assessment and preparation, intraoperative circulating nurse duties, post anesthesia recovery care, and discharge planning and education. The RN utilizes critical thinking, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice to coordinate safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout the perioperative continuum. The RN collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, surgical staff, patients, and families to ensure optimal patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. The RN serves as a patient advocate, promotes a culture of safety and quality, and demonstrates accountability for ongoing professional development and excellence in patient care. 

Description: 

  • Performs preoperative assessments, develops plans of care, provides patient education, coordinates discharge planning, and documents patient care.  

  • Provides circulating, perioperative, and PACU nursing care while ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.  

  • Monitors patient status, responds to changes in condition, and manages emergencies using sound clinical judgment.  

  • Collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient-centered care.  

  • Serves as a patient advocate while promoting effective communication, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.  

  • Demonstrates leadership through delegation, teamwork, mentoring, and professional development.  

  • Maintains required licensure, certifications, competencies, and compliance with organizational policies and safety standards. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.  

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.  

  • Current Kentucky RN license or Kentucky work permit.  

  • No experience required; perioperative, critical care, or emergency department experience preferred.  

  • Post-Hire Requirements: BLS (American Heart Association) within 30 days; Glucometer Training upon hire; Aegis Training as required.
