Role Purpose

The HR Specialist provides a wide variety of human resource functions for Finance, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Sustainability at Corning. This role combines HR generalist support with a data analytics focus — delivering compliance-driven HR program administration, employee relations support, and insight-based reporting to help leadership make informed people decisions across client groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day HR point of contact for Finance, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Sustainability — handling employee and manager inquiries on policy, process, benefits, and HR programs
  • Maintain accuracy of HR data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS); conduct periodic audits and submit change requests to HR Shared Services (HRSS) as needed
  • Manage employee data within the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and compliance during employee lifecycle events including new hires, terminations, job changes, and pay adjustments
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret HR metrics (e.g., turnover trends, absenteeism, engagement data); develop and maintain dashboards and reports to support leadership decision-making
  • Administer leave of absence programs — including FMLA, disability, PFL, and LOA — for assigned client groups
  • Support full-cycle HR generalist activities for assigned groups, including onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, and organizational change communications
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruiting for requisitions within assigned groups, supporting hiring managers through screening, interview coordination, and candidate selection
  • Serve as primary point of contact for HRSS ticket submission and escalation on behalf of assigned client groups
  • Support early career programs for assigned groups, including intern hiring, intern council coordination, and rotational program logistics
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to standardize HR processes and reduce administrative complexity across client groups
  • Provide ad hoc HR project support as assigned

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of HR generalist or HR specialist experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience supporting corporate or staff functions
  • Familiarity with Corning HR systems, including Success Factors
  • Experience coordinating early career programs (intern hiring, rotational programs)
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification
  • Track record managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines across distinct client groups
