  • Rotation: Current Mon-Fri role

Position Summary: 

The primary responsibility is the performance of mammography studies requiring independent judgment, extended knowledge and expertise to apply ionizing radiation for radiologic purposes.

Education, License & Cert: 

High school diploma and graduation from an accredited JRCERT Radiologic Technology Program.  Certification required; ARRT(M) mammography certified within two years of employment.

Experience: 

Minimum of six months.

Essential Functions: 

1. Performs as a part of the radiology team to insure excellence, teamwork, and patient centeredness.

a. Contributes to a positive work environment through their interactions with other staff, both internal and external; maintains positive work relationships.

b. Responds in a prompt and courteous manner to requests and inquiries, keeps other staff and patients informed.

c. Accepts criticism, is open to new ideas, and handles conflict constructively and diplomatically; works through conflict for positive solutions/results.

2. Performs mammographic radiologic exams

a. Adjusts mammography equipment in selecting the proper radiographic techniques for optimum image quality.

b. Positions patients to obtain image standards set by the ACR and MQSA.

c. Reviews all images to ensure acceptable quality and completeness for diagnostic purposes.

3. Obtains an accurate medical history on each patient

4. Assists Radiologist in the performance of biopsy procedures including needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, savi‐scout placement, and specimen imaging.

a. Have knowledge to place orders for specimen imaging

Other Duties: 

1. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with appropriate information such as  patient name, B#, technical factors used, etc.

2. Maintains clean work area.

3. Ensures that area is properly supplied for performing diagnostic procedures and examinations.

4. Under the direction of the Q. A. technologist, will perform various tests on all mammography equipment to meet State and Federal requirements.

5. Complete understanding of computer system as it relates to your area.

6. Have the ability to gain patient acceptance in having procedure. Must have good listening skills and able to make patient feel at ease.
