Position Summary:Â
Analyze Pressware plant production processes, perform experiments and lead teams to determine best operating conditions, procedures, and product finishing engineering. Write appropriate documentation and make recommendations for processes and equipment improvements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plans and executes on existing processes to determine best operating set points and procedures for multiple glass finishing processes. Champion appropriate changes to the manufacturing processes.
- Identify, plan, and implement new products and processes for expansion or improvement of business.
- Use 6-Sigma statistical techniques to analyze existing data and to design and run trials.
- Leads project teams and troubleshooting teams to determine root cause and corrective action solutions.
- Ensure that products are made in accordance with documented procedures. Manage deviations from documented procedures through the Process Document Change (PDC) and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes.
- Verifies equipment set-ups, performs observations, and monitors manufacturing processes to detect trends and deviations from documented procedures.
- Able to interpret, apply and implement statistical quality control and lean methods and tools on existing and new manufacturing processes.
- Effectively identifies areas for improvement and drives and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Develop programs to improve Finishing productivity and implements job change improvements.
- Effectively promotes safety and housekeeping improvement programs.
- Develop improvement plans to continuously maximize select rates.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in continuous improvement, continuous 24/7 process in a manufacturing environment. Union environment preferred.
- 6-Sigma Green Belt certified preferred.
- Must be able to analyze data using Excel and other software tools.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing. Preferred experience in glass manufacturing.
- Must be able to provide after-hours and weekend support as required, on-call duties.
- Must be willing to collaborate with union and salary personnel to troubleshoot equipment and machinery issues; and perform preventative maintenance.
