Summary/Objective:
The Crane Yard Technician is responsible for safely operating cranes and heavy equipment in the yard, performing on/off rent inspections, conducting preventative maintenance, and supporting daily yard operations. This role ensures equipment readiness, safety compliance, and efficient fleet movement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and haul equipment to load, unload, and move cranes and components
- Perform on-rent and off-rent inspections and document equipment condition
- Conduct preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repairs
- Assist with crane assembly, disassembly, and configuration
- Support rigging and proper lifting techniques
- Maintain yard organization and equipment staging
- Washing cranes as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and company policies
- Identify and report equipment issues proactively
- Support general yard duties and logistics as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience operating cranes or heavy equipment preferred
- NCCCO certification (LBC/TLL) preferred but not required
- Basic mechanical knowledge and maintenance experience
- Valid driver’s license with clean record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass drug test, background check, and fit-for-duty exam
Physical Demands:
Work is performed outdoors and may include exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and heavy equipment operation.
