The Infection Preventionist is responsible for working on a daily basis to provide comprehensive surveillance, consultation and ongoing education related to infection prevention and epidemiology practices to hospital and ambulatory care departments. The Infection Preventionist also coordinates activities to support the ongoing framework for implementation of the Infection Prevention Program, including development of policies and procedures, organization of Infection Prevention Committee and environmental rounds. Collaborate with employee health department for surveillance of employees, physicians and patients exposed to a communicable disease requiring follow-up and immunization. Investigate outbreaks of infection and unusual occurrences on resistant organisms and designs intervention for their control. Participates in the development of the Risk Assessment and Goals to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organization and healthcare agencies.
Infection Preventionist is responsible for presenting data, facilitating and following up on multidisciplinary team meetings, and carrying out projects as assigned. The IP will be responsible of accurate retrieval, validation, and presentation of Infection Prevention data. The IP will also be responsible for entering and validating NHSN data and other quality metrics.
The IP ensures regulatory compliance for Infection Prevention policies and procedures. Works with minimal supervision and collaborates with the Principal Infection Prevention and the Medical Director. Other duties as assigned.
Outpatient Infection Prevention Duties:- Conduct rounds at our outpatient locations (Hoag Urgent care, HMG, Imaging, Wound Care Center, Infusion Center, Rehab Center, etc.).
- Review and update policies and procedures for outpatient locations.
- Review and update online education modules.
- Perform in person education.
- Perform outbreak investigations and exposures to communicable disease.
