Job Summary:

The Division of Research and Innovation is seeking an ATAMI Thin Films Engineer. This is a part-time (.35 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI), an OSU research and commercialization facility located on the Corvallis Hewlett Packard campus, is recruiting a Thin Films Engineer for our shared use facility. ATAMI is an Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies (ONAMI) Signature Research Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independent project execution.
  • Collaborative development with faculty, tenants, and other outside companies.
  • Sustaining and development support for thin film processing equipment including sputter deposition, atomic layer deposition, and photolithography.
  • Sustaining and development support for thin film analytical instruments including ellipsometry, SEM, various other thickness and film property techniques.
  • User training in operation of thin film equipment and instruments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Materials Science or related Engineering.
  • Five or more years of full-time professional employment experience in thin film processes and device fabrication.
  • Direct experience with ellipsometry, sputter deposition, and photolithography.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing programs, projects, or initiatives.
  • CAD design skills.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with new product/process design and development.
  • Experience with startup/small company operation.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

Work is done in a laboratory setting. This is a 0.35 FTE position. Typical weekday working hours occur between 7am and 7pm. Weekend working hours are also acceptable.

Salary Range:

$90,000- $102,000
