Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 2 part-time (a maximum of 10 hours per week) BA 211 Teaching Assistant positions for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU).

These are TA position for all of the BA 211 courses, and potentially other accounting courses should the need arise, for the academic year. Successful candidates can expect to:

  • Assist in grading

  • Assis in grade entry

  • Provide tutoring and/or host office hours

  • Assist with exam proctoring

  • Successful candidate will be expected to understand the course material, be flexible, and have good listening skills with the ability to assist students in the learning of course material.Ā 

Pay rate for this position is $16.55 per hour.

Position Duties

  • The successful candidate is expected to assist with tasks such as grading, provide tutoring, help with Canvas management, and help with exam proctoring.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ā€œfull-timeā€ by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theĀ Office of International ServicesĀ (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required:

  • Applicants must have successfully completed BA 211 at Oregon State University with a B or higher.

Preferred:

  • Preference is for students who have successfully completed the Intermediate Accounting Series (ACTG317/318/319) with a B or higher.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

The successful candidate can work around their class schedule but should be available to assist proctoring exams and grading during specific weeks.
