Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Undergraduate Grader positions for the School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position assists CBEE faculty with grading homework, studio work, and test papers to a rubric, and may include in-class assistance. Assignment may vary from 3-20 hours per week, depending on the workload and assignment.

Position Duties:Ā 

  • 95%: Grading via a grading rubric.

  • 5%: in-class support as needed.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ā€œfull-timeā€ by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theĀ Office of International ServicesĀ (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering undergraduate major

  • Sophomore or above

  • Successful completion of the course they are supporting with a B or higher

  • OverallĀ GPAĀ greater than 2.9/4.0

  • Knowledge of Canvas

  • Strong interpersonal skills and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Attention to detail and organization

  • Demonstrable ability to work independently and in a team environment

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq.   • Students must completeĀ FERPAĀ training prior to beginning work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering major

  • Junior or above

  • Successful completion of the course they are supporting with a B+ or higher

  • OverallĀ GPAĀ greater than 3.0/Pre-coreĀ GPAĀ greater than 3.2

  • Comfortable leading sections of a class with 25-30 students each

  • Team player

Working Conditions/Schedule:

• Work may be performed in classrooms, labs, or other office locations.
• Must be able to work between 5 – 20 hours per week.
