Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill six (6) part-time (approximately 10-12 hours per week / maximum of 20 hours per week) Undergraduate Teaching Assistant positions for the Department of Chemistry working with students taking general chemistry courses such as CH 121, 122, 123,227Z, 228Z, 229Z. at Oregon State University (OSU).
Position Duties:
55% instructor for recitation and/or laboratory sections of general chemistry
30% grading assignments
10% Mole Hole hours (office hours)
5% attending staff meetings

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered āfull-timeā by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theĀ Office of International ServicesĀ (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Qualifications:
Grades of B+ or better in CH 221Z, 222Z, 223Z, 227Z, 228Z, 229Z (formerly numbered CH 231, 232, 233, 261, 262, 263)
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an organic chemistry sequence, for example CH 334, 335, 336 or CH 331,332, with grades of B or higher
