Boardwalk Investments Group, LLC ("Boardwalk") is a privately held commercial real estate investment company. Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, the Firm currently manages a commercial real estate portfolio comprised of retail, mixed-use, office and multifamily assets located primarily in Orange County, California. Since 2012, Boardwalk's investment strategy is to actively acquire, stabilize, and manage commercial real estate located in core, coastal markets in California. 

 

This role offers a highly hands-on opportunity to help transform a growing portfolio of commercial real estate assets, primarily retail, with exposure to residential and mixed-use projects. You’ll spend significant time producing and coordinating CAD drawings and construction documents, taking projects from concept through construction. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you’ll help convert design intent into buildable, real-world solutions that elevate existing properties and bring new vision to life.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of architectural projects, primarily commercial, including retail, with exposure to residential and mixed-use work
  • Prepare architectural drawings, design documents, and construction sets for permitting and execution
  • Coordinate with consultants (MEP, structural, civil, landscape) and review consultant documents for accuracy and alignment
  • Assist with feasibility studies, space planning, test fits, and site evaluations
  • Support projects through schematic design, design development, and construction administration
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs and assist with responses as needed
  • Participate in site visits and punch walks to monitor construction progress and quality
  • Ensure compliance with applicable zoning, building codes, accessibility standards, and local regulations
  • Maintain consistency with company standards, design guidelines, and operational requirements
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and document control

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 4–7 years of professional architectural experience
  • Active California Architectural License (RA) required
  • Strong commercial architecture background required
  • Retail project experience preferred
  • Residential or mixed-use project experience a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, building codes, and permitting processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to visit active construction sites, including walking uneven surfaces and climbing stairs
