Johnson Health Tech (JHT) is expanding its hearing technology innovation efforts and is hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager to help shape the next generation of hearing device platforms.

This role sits within JHT’s global R&D organization and plays a critical part in advancing electrical architecture, embedded systems, and hardware performance across hearing initiatives. In close collaboration with SyncLync and other strategic business units, this leader will help build scalable, forward-thinking technology that drives the industry forward.

This is a high-impact engineering leadership role focused on innovation, technical rigor, and long-term platform development.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of R&D, the Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the electrical engineering function for hearing device development programs.

They will translate product requirements into detailed technical execution plans, drive system architecture decisions, and guide projects from early concept through validation and production. This role partners daily with product marketing, audiology, industrial design, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs meet performance, regulatory, cost, and timeline objectives.

The ideal candidate combines strong hardware expertise with strategic thinking, challenging conventional design approaches while delivering reliable, manufacturable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:


Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Lead electrical engineering design and development of advanced hearing device systems
  • Translate product requirements into detailed technical roadmaps and execution plans
  • Drive architecture decisions across analog/digital hardware, embedded systems, and wireless communication
  • Ensure designs meet performance, regulatory, manufacturability, and end-use standards
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and patents to inform product strategy

Innovation & Industry Advancement

  • Challenge legacy design assumptions in hearing device architecture
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization, miniaturization, and system integration
  • Balance breakthrough innovation with practical production realities
  • Contribute to long-term platform strategy across hearing product lines

Team & Organizational Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talent
  • Provide clear technical direction and remove development roadblocks
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and curiosity
  • Coach engineers to deliver high-quality results within structured development processes

Project & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Lead multiple projects through structured phase-gate development
  • Manage timelines, resources, and engineering budgets
  • Partner daily with global teams across R&D, marketing, suppliers, manufacturing, and quality
  • Support production through design reviews, test data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (required)
  • Advanced engineering degree preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years of electrical hardware design experience
  • 5+ years of demonstrated technical leadership
  • 5+ years leading complex electrical hardware or embedded system development projects
  • Experience interpreting patents and evaluating technical IP
  • Working knowledge of hearing aid architecture strongly preferred

Technical Expertise

  • Analog and digital hardware design
