The Buffer Forklift Operator is responsible for ensuring that our finished product is moved within our warehouse in a safe and efficient manner.  Forklift duties include but are not limited to driving a forklift in a freezer warehouse, ensuring safety of equipment being used, transporting finished product in the warehouse, pulling finished product for loading of trailers, preparing trailers for loading, and loading trailers adhering to proper procedure.  Ensuring facility maintenance through good housekeeping practices.Â
Essential Job Functions:Â
- Ability to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for positionÂ
- Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in EnglishÂ
- Ability to drive forklifts including stand-up, sit-down, hi-lift, and tandems.Â
- Ability to work in a cold environment for long periods of time Â
- Excellent attention to detail Â
- Ability to move up to 75 lbsÂ
- Basic math skills Â
- Basic knowledge of computersÂ
Job Duties:Â
- Perform required safety check of equipment before useÂ
- Move finished product from blast freezer to finished product warehouseÂ
- Scan finished product into rack location using warehouse management systemÂ
- Transport finished product from racks according to work orders and place in staging areaÂ
- Prepare to load trailers by opening dock doors, setting dock plates, inspecting trailer, checking trailer temperatures, verifying load plan, and chocking tires.Â
- Load trailer according to load planÂ
- May perform other duties as assignedÂ
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Â
- Knowledge of forklift safety and troubleshooting Â
- Knowledge of proper forklift loading proceduresÂ
- Ability to understand the effects of product damageÂ
- Ability to solve problems independently Â
- Must be well organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneouslyÂ
- Ability to work individually as well as with others as a team at all levelsÂ
- Knowledge of GMP’sÂ
- Ability to be PIT CertifiedÂ
Qualifications:Â
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.Â
Experience Required: Minimum 6 months’ forklift experience preferred.Â
