Western Engineering Co., Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Truck Mechanic to join our maintenance team. As a Truck Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and support equipment used in asphalt paving and construction operations throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic, electrical, and air systems.
  • Complete inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before failures occur.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Ensure all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate repair needs and equipment status with supervisors and drivers.
  • Assist with other fleet maintenance projects as needed.
  • Experience as a diesel or heavy truck mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, and heavy-duty truck maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures efficiently.
  • Experience using diagnostic software and repair tools.
  • Ability to read service manuals and repair schematics.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in shop and field environments.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
