Summary

The NAR/CNA is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of care. Under the direction of the professional nursing staff, the NAR provides the personal care for assigned residents, patients or clients and is an integral part of the care planning, assessment and recordkeeping systems.


Job Duties
The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.

  • Assists with the needs and comfort of patients including hygiene, nutrition, activity and treatments in
    accordance with the policies and procedures of Mille Lacs Health System.*
  • Observes patients and communicates changes and/or needs to the Team Leader.
  • Documents patient cares in the Electronic Medical Record. Cares include, but not limited to; vital signs,
    intake/output, meals and activities of daily living.*
  • Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety policies and
    procedures.*
  • Supports and upholds the Patient's Bill of Rights.*
  • Performs all duties as assigned.*
  • Always uses appropriate lifting techniques when lifting/moving patients/equipment.*
  • Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is appropriate for the given task.*
  • Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly.*
  • Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary.*
  • Always uses appropriate equipment (i.e. transfer belts, Hoyer) when moving patients.*
  • Ensures patient privacy by knocking, pulling privacy curtains & draping patient.*
  • Ensures the dignity of the patient by consistently using respectful language.*
  • Keeps patient rooms neat, clean and orderly without prompting. Keeps kitchenette neat, clean and stocked
    without prompting. Keeps hallways clear of food carts, equipment, etc.*

Required Education and Experience

  • Registered with the MN Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Computer skills and ability to document EHR.
  • BLS - CPR required.

  • Health care industry experience
