Description

The fitness instructor, through collaboration with the staff, will help promote the health and well-being of our senior population. This position is responsible for implementation of Title IIIB Wellness Program and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program, to include 60-minute exercise classes, health screenings, health education and all required record keeping.  Tuesday / Thursday - Slidell at 9am & Pearl River at 10:30am.  

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will bring a track record of excellence in personal trainer positions, ideally working with the elderly population.
  • Conduct exercise classes at senior centers to include, but not limited to low impact aerobics, balance training, and chair exercises.  
  • Lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes.  
  • Design creative workouts using equipment such as resistance bands, ankle weights, dumbbells, stability balls, and more.
  • Encourage participants of all fitness levels to stay active and consistent.  
  • Provide modifications to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Create a welcoming and supportive class environment.  
  • Ensure proper form and safety throughout each session 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years prior experience involving the delivery of social services or wellness programs to the public.
  • Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the elderly.
