Job Summary:Â
The purpose of the Audio Engineer is to ensure the best possible sound experience (clear, balanced, and high-quality audio) for the audience and the performers during a live event regardless of the venue or acoustical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:Â
The AE directs the construction, placement, tuning, operation, and strike of the various audio systems specified for an event. The AE is also expected to participate in the pre-production preparation/QC of and the specification of the system for inventory pull and truck loading. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Maintain safety as top priority and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards
- Supervise, lead, train, and mentor teams of audio technicians and other support personnel as required to develop their skills and abilities related to audio system installation and operation
- Specify audio systems that are appropriate for the artists, the venues, and the audiences
- Specify all components and hardware required for the complete installation of various audio systems
- Effectively communicate and problem-solve with clients, artists, engineers and their representatives
- Operate various systems and consoles as required for various shows
- Develop and perform advanced patching schemes as required for the shows
- Provide advanced troubleshooting of the various audio systems and other related systems
- Maintain, calibrate, and repair audio equipment as needed to ensure all equipment is functioning properly
- Develop stage/input plots
- Model audio systems with appropriate software
- Determine proper hang points for all necessary audio speakers
- Time-delay audio systems of any size/configuration
- Perform RF coordination
- Perform other collateral duties related to show and shop support as required

 QUALIFICATIONSÂ
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience is highly valued
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a live audio engineer in various settings (concerts, festivals, corporate events, theaters, etc.)
- Expertise with a variety of mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, DiGiCo, Midas, etc.)
- Strong understanding of signal flow, gain structure, EQ, dynamics processing, and FX
- Proficiency with digital and analog systems, including Dante, AVB, AES50, etc.
- Experience with stage monitoring, IEMs, and RF coordination
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure and adapt to changing live environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of acoustics and sound design principles
- Familiarity with live sound software (Smaart, QLab, etc.)
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings/nights, and weekends.
- Willingness to travel as required.
