About the Role

Special Olympics Louisiana is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, and mission-driven Programs Coordinator to join our state team. This role is at the heart of our operations, providing critical administrative, logistical, and outreach support across our core sports, health, and education initiatives.


The successful candidate will focus on program development, community outreach, resource creation, and partnership expansion to drive growth in priority communities across the state. Key Responsibilities

The Programs Coordinator works collaboratively with the programs team to ensure the seamless execution of statewide initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


School & Youth Development (Unified Champion Schools®)

  • Assist with the coordination, expansion, and ongoing support of school and youth programming across Louisiana.
  • Update school and youth program websites, school resource kits, and promotional materials.
  • Prepare Professional Development materials for educators and instructional materials for school-based coaches.
  • Maintain and update the school programs database to ensure accurate tracking and compliance.


Sports, Competitions, & Health

  • Provide administrative and hands-on, on-site logistical support for our regional competitions and state championships.
  • Manage daily data entry and database management to support athlete medical forms, volunteer registrations, and event tracking.
  • Support the coordination of Healthy Athletes® screenings and inclusive health initiatives, managing supply logistics and tracking health data.


Resource & Resource Development

  • Develop coaching and community resources, tools, and training materials.
  • Provide support to the ongoing development of volunteer and athlete training resources.
  • Assist in fostering the growth and development of specialized programming by developing targeted resources and working alongside aligned partner organizations.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in program coordination, administrative support, youth development, or sports management (non-profit experience is a plus).
  • Education: Degree in Sports Management or another related field preferred
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and basic website/digital content updates.
  • Resource Creation: Ability to develop clear, engaging educational, coaching, and promotional materials for diverse audiences.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to foster partnerships with schools, community organizations, and sports leagues.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to support statewide competitions and events, along with travel across the state as required.
