Job Description 

Start Corporation's Start with HEART program is looking for a compassionate, patient Childcare Associate to provide supervision, activities and fun to youth during weekly Start with HEART groups in the Covington, Mandeville and New Orleans locations.


Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years experience in early childhood or school-aged care

  • Promotes recovery, independence, and personal choice for participants.
  • Accurately identifies risk and responds appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of behavioral health symptoms, interventions, and impact.
  • Maintains professional boundaries and operates within agency /ethical guidelines.
  • Knowledge of agency and community resources and referral processes.


Job Duties / Skills Required 

  • Complete mandatory training series for Start with HEART program.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and check-ins with Start with HEART Program Supervisor.
  • Schedule and maintain a flexible workweek to meet the childcare needs of Start with HEART families attending groups, planning child activities, scheduled program meetings and documentation responsibilities.
  • Provide consistent, quality services childcare to families’ children while they are participating in services.
  • Maintain contact with parents to provide updates of child/children’s time in childcare.
  • Promote the agency/program within the community. Meet guidelines for submission of childcare documentation to parents and into Awards.
  • Commitment to the Start with HEART program.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals/couples/populations.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain client and employee confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires working nontraditional, flexible hours, including evenings.
  • Work is performed in an office environment.
  • Requires travel to multiple Start Corporation offices. 
  • Data entry into Awards.
