JOB SUMMARY

Microbac operates across a number of software platforms that support laboratory operations, customer management, financial systems, reporting, and customer-facing tools. The Applications Architect is responsible for ensuring these platforms function both independently and as part of a cohesive technology ecosystem.

This role oversees how systems connect, how data flows between departments, and how technology is configured and utilized across the organization. The position ensures that software platforms are fully implemented, optimized for operational needs, and consistently used by staff to support Microbac’s business objectives. The role also leads process mapping, workflow optimization, and documentation to ensure that systems and operational processes remain aligned as the organization evolves.

Essential Functions:

Technology Optimization & Utilization

  • Ensure Microbac’s technology platforms are fully implemented, properly configured, and optimized to support operational workflows and departmental initiatives.
  • Monitor how systems are used across departments and ensure staff are utilizing available tools and functionality effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to better leverage existing technology before introducing new systems or solutions.
  • Work with department leaders to ensure software platforms are configured in ways that best support their teams and operational goals.


Systems Integration & Data Flow

  • Oversee how Microbac’s software platforms connect and interact across departments.
  • Ensure reliable data integration and synchronization between systems such as laboratory systems, CRM platforms, financial systems, reporting tools, and customer portals.
  • Work with technical teams and vendors to ensure integrations function properly and data maps accurately between platforms.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to system connectivity, data flow, or integration failures.


Data Integrity & Reporting 

  • Maintain data integrity across systems to ensure accurate, reliable reporting.
  • Ensure data structures, system configurations, and integrations support consistent reporting across departments.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in how data is stored, transferred, or interpreted across systems.
  • Support the development and maintenance of reporting frameworks that provide reliable operational insights.


Process Mapping & Workflow Optimization

  • Map and document operational processes across departments to ensure systems support workflows effectively.
  • Identify inefficiencies, manual workarounds, or gaps between systems and operational processes.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, automate processes where possible, and improve system-driven operations.
  • Maintain documentation of workflows, system interactions, and operational procedures.


Cross-Department Data Coordination 

  • Ensure information flows accurately between departments including Operations, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and Laboratory teams.
  • Align system configurations and data structures to support departmental initiatives and operational objectives.
  • Coordinate with department leaders to ensure their systems and reporting needs are properly supported.


Customer Technology Solutions & Architecture Liaison

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Microbac’s customers and internal IT teams regarding client-requested technology capabilities, integrations, and data solutions.
  • Evaluate customer technology requests and translate business requirements into technical specifications for internal teams and external partners.
  • Assess how new technology solutions, integrations, or data exchanges fit within Microbac’s existing technology architecture and system ecosystem.
  • Work with IT and software vendors to design and implement customer-facing technology solutions that align with Microbac’s platforms, data standards, and operational workflows.
  • Ensure new technology implementations integrate seamlessly with existing systems and maintain data integrity across platforms.


Technology Vendor & Platform Coordination

  • Serve as the liaison between Microbac, internal departments, and external software vendors, integration partners, and technology providers.
  • Coordinate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure software platforms are implemented and configured effectively.
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot system issues, manage integrations, and implement platform enhancements or upgrades.
  • Ensure vendor solutions align with Microbac’s broader technology architecture and operational strategy.


Documentation & System Governance 

  • Maintain clear documentation of system integrations, workflows, data structures, and operational processes.
  • Establish standards for system governance, data mapping, and technology usage across the organization.
  • Ensure institutional knowledge regarding systems, integrations, and processes is documented and maintained.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • 5-8 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including cybersecurity oversight.
  • Experience managing enterprise software ecosystems with multiple integrated platforms.
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, and data flows between platforms.
  • Experience with CRM, ERP, laboratory systems, or operational platforms preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to map business processes and align technology systems with operational workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
