Position: Part-Time Phlebotomist
Department: Phlebotomy Services
Location: UPMC Passavant - Cranberry
Shifts: 20 hours per week. Monday - Friday 9:30AM - 6PM with rotating Saturdays 7AM - 3PM. No Sundays or holidays required!
Responsibilities:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick procedures following proper patient identification protocols.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Instruct patients on collection procedures for non-blood specimens and collect samples as required.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 May also perform arterial puncture following strict collection and post collection guidelines.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Transport specimens safely from on-site and off-site collection areas to the appropriate lab section.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensure compliance with laboratory and hospital policies, including quality assurance and infection control measures.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers and respond to telephone inquiries promptly.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform clerical duties such as data entry, test ordering, specimen labeling, and verifying patient information.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as assigned.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Communicate unusual or problematic incidents to technical staff, supervisors, or pathologists.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Receive, label, and prepare specimens for analysis while maintaining accuracy and integrity.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Order, organize, and maintain inventory of supplies; check expiration dates and stock patient care areas.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide clear instructions to patients regarding specimen collection and address concerns with professionalism and empathy.
*Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school diploma or equivalent is required.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy is preferred.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Act 33 with renewal
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Act 34 with renewal
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
