Overview

Environmental Test Technician (GXP 2026-25242):

 

Bowhead seeks a Environmental Test Technician to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN. The Technician will provide technical and engineering support services to the Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control Division. 

 

Responsibilities

Essential functions to include: 

 

  • Manage test schedules along with assistance from technology/test item leads.
  • Support weekly status meetings with Prime Contractor and PMO personnel to coordinate schedules and report status of testing.
  • Schedule and submit test requests to appropriate test facilities/POCs for upcoming test.
  • Coordinate and assist with design, development, and fabrication of required fixtures for testing.
  • Interface with machine shop personnel as needed during fabrication of test fixtures.
  • Provide assistance in generating, reviewing, and approving test plans and procedures.
  • Transport and/or coordinate delivery of equipment to test facilities. 
  • Interface with test operators and technology/test items leads to support setup of equipment for testing.
  • Monitor, execute and/or observe test as needed with assistance from test operators and technology/test item leads.
  • Track and co-author Test Problem Reports and Test Summary Reports during and after each test.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
  • Must have three (3) to five (5) years technical experience working on high reliability systems.
  • Have sufficient hardware experience to identify and solve hardware problems associated with design, development, and integration of high reliability systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

  

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants who currently hold a Secret clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
