Technical Writer

Summary of Position

 

BQMI is adding to their growing team of professionals supporting government contracts across the United States. We are a well-established team who are known for being employee-focused while providing superior support to our customers. BQMI is looking for a well-qualified technical writer who will leverage their experience and knowledge to develop technical documents and communications for the United States Navy at their Crane, IN location.  This is primarily an onsite role with occasional telework opportunities.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Generate and maintain technical documentation for the USCG SAFECEN.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information. 
  • Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology. 
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.  
  • Ensure documents are clear, concise, technically correct, and compliant with USCG correspondence requirements.  
  • Assist in the formulation and definition of documentation scopes and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable USCG correspondence standards.  
  • Assist in performing analysis of business and user needs to generate documentation requirements.
  • Apply process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies/principles and process modernization projects.
  • Generate and communicate progress reports for management and customer leadership.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Experience preparing technical documentation including user guides and manuals, reports and bulletins, information brochures and newsletters, and other types of formal correspondence for United States Government (USG) agencies. 
  • Experience incorporating accessibility standards into technical documentation.
  • Experience conducting research on applicable Government and industry documentation standards.
  • Ability to work with and coordinate the activities of technically oriented teams.
  • Demonstratable oral and written communication skills.
  • Use of project management tools to plan and schedule work.
  • Experience supervising small teams.

 

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, preferably English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism 
  • Minimum of eight years of experience preparing technical documentation for United States Government (USG) agencies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, or other document development and management tools.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
