Position Summary
The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Operator I is responsible for preparation and operation of assigned CNC machines, including lathes and mills. They perform machining functions such as cutting, deburring, balancing, drilling, boring and broaching of materials used in manufacturing different product components. The CNC Machine Operator I follows standard practices and procedures to ensure that product components are machined accurately and to proper specifications. Â

- 100% accuracy on any inventory transactions and quality requirementsÂ
- 100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviationsÂ
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Â
- Performs basic setup and operation of assigned computer numerical control (CNC) machines.Â
- Produces product components in accordance with blueprints, engineered drawings, Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS), and Bills of Material (BOM).Â
- Reviews job information in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system daily to determine orders to process. Â
- Maintains inventory of materials needed for production orders.Â
- Determines tooling requirements and setup for machined procedures. Â
- Mounts and secures tooling and workpiece on the machine.Â
- Selects and installs cutting tools within the machine.Â
- Loads pre-programmed machine commands into the controller.Â
- Uses proper machining methods and sequences and performs preventive maintenance for smooth and efficient operations.Â
- Runs machine and changes tooling and setup as required. Â
- Adjusts machine controls to perform tool offset and correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.Â
- Performs periodic checks and daily routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations.Â
- Inspects parts after completion of each operation to ensure they meet drawing specifications, tolerances and quality standards.Â
- Places finished parts in proper bins.Â
- Rotates and operates different assigned machines as production needs require.Â
- Moves materials as needed for machining. Â
- Ensures maximum output for work area; manages time effectively in order to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes.Â
- Visually inspects parts for quality and reports any issues to Team Lead or Supervisor.Â
- Updates the ERP for work performed.Â
- Maintains required documentation as directed.Â
- Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor.Â
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; ensures equipment is in good operating condition.Â
- Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.Â
- Adheres to all safety policies and wears personal protective equipment as required.Â
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of a trade school or vocational program preferredÂ
- CNC certification preferred Â
- 1+ years of CNC operator experience preferredÂ
- Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systemsÂ
- Must successfully learn specific responsibilities as assigned and adhere to production proceduresÂ
- Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and able to attain Manufacturing Process Sheet (MPS) training sign-off within 90 daysÂ
- Ability to read engineered drawings and blueprints Â
- Physical dexterity to manipulate hand tools and power toolsÂ
- Ability to push, pull, lift and/or move materials of up to 30 lbs; capable of using hoists for materials over 30 lbsÂ
- Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity, including standing and liftingÂ
- Capable of following verbal and/or written instructionÂ
- Good communication skills with the ability to work within a team settingÂ
- Attention to detail is essential for successÂ
- Well organized
Work Environment
This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.Â
This position reports into the site every workday.
