SUMMARY:

The advanced practice provider (APP) is accountable to facilitate a high-quality hospital experience and optimal care outcomes for cardiac patients and their families. The APP reports directly to the Manager for APPs and the inpatient Medical Director for the Division of Cardiology and manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings. The APP functions as a clinical leader, educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for the patients across the care continuum.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers high-quality, cost-effective care incorporating guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) in a timely, efficient, and equitable manner to facilitate optimal care outcomes for a patient population with acute cardiac diseases.

  • Demonstrates advanced cardiac knowledge and skills to care for patients in the acute care setting.

  • Able to perform routine history and physical examinations, interpretation of laboratory data, EKG, telemetry, CXR, other diagnostic tests, and formulate plan of care in partnership with other members of the care team, patients and families.

  • Demonstrates interprofessional competency and participates in team-based care.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary discharge planning and coordination.

  • Consistently applies the Brown University Health Shared Care Values of compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. Responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other relevant Brown University Health policies and procedures.

  • Participates in procedures for billing and coding for medical services.

  • Competent use of EMR and LifeChat Participates in the continuous education and training, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Participates in education, training and mentoring of APP students and new employees

  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model. Annually completes mandatory safety, infection control, BLS, and ACLS.

  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing

EXPERIENCE:

Graduated for a Physician Assistant program with a master’s degree and has current board certification from the NCCPA or graduated from a master’s program for nurse practitioners and has current board certification from ANCC or AANP.

Current RI License, DEA license, BLS and ACLS certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Fast paced, hospital environment with fluctuating caseload of 6-10 patients, stressful conditions associated with patient care at times. Occasional weekends and holiday shifts required.

None.

Pay Range:

$127,504.00-$161,782.40
