Mechanical Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to design equipment and safely manage projects within a production environment. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for actively working with the maintenance and operations teams to accomplish goals while communicating progress towards those goals. Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
2. Active involvement in developing and executing projects

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. Prior Leadership experience 
3. 5 years of experience with Project Management
