JOB SUMMARY
The Technician I performs scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and lubrication on industrial equipment, trucks, trailers, automobiles, facilities and any other assets belonging to the company. Â This position will also handle minor repairs or component replacement while performing quality inspections following the assigned checklist and guidelines.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
- Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.
- Comply with company safety policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
- May be required to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed 26,000 pounds.
- Assist with maintenance repairs as directed by maintenance staff.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as directed by maintenance staff.
- Document repair operations and time tracking in accordance with company procedures. Â
- Learn basic mechanical techniques, torques, and procedures.
- Requisition parts as necessary.
- Conduct failure analyses and report findings to maintenance management.
- Wash trucks and equipment and keep shop areas cleaned.
- Take care of minor tasks as assigned such as changing light bulbs, wiper blades, and mud flaps.
- Attend all training session as scheduled for continuing education.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess own basic tools or the ability to acquire tools upon hireÂ
- Mechanical aptitudeÂ
- Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair status
- Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workers
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Preventive maintenance background
- Shop experience
- Parts knowledge
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Safe driving record for the past three years
