Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Geologist to join our Fourmile Project team.  The successful candidate will lead a team of geologists responsible for growing resources, building & integrating ore body knowledge in the PFS and PEA studies through ensuring proper data collection including logging, sampling, geologic section interpretation, development of routing strategies and tracking of material underground, in addition to supporting the 3D geologic model and designing and executing infill, growth and exploration drill programs.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive zero harm workplace through visible felt leadership, stop work authority, and other safety programs in place.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior geologists. Ensure development plans are established and maintained for all direct reports.
  • Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety and Finance).
  • Support & drive infill, growth and exploration drill programs to grow resources in line with business objectives.
  • Build ore body knowledge by ensuring geologic interpretation of sections are integrated into geologic models, estimation & geo-metallurgical domains. Training & development of team members to execute drill planning & decision making, logging, sampling, geologic interpretation. Ensure best practices are utilized, understood, and followed by the team.
  • Monitor QA/QC practices and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and identify opportunities for improvements. Supervise training of staff members and review SOP's.
  • Engage with resource team to ensure accurate, fit for purpose mineral estimations are delivered, ensuring that all available data are leveraged to maximize value in every model.
  • Supervise and authorize the design, preparation and implementation of proposals, cost estimates and expenditure requests for production drill programs.
  • Assist in creation of MRM budget and responsible for tracking spend and variance explanation.
  • Support and drive integration of orebody knowledge into all parts of the business.
  • Provide input into the yearly business plans.
  • Monitor departmental KPI’s to ensure agreed work programs, drilling, cost, and ounce delivery targets are met.
  • Identify areas for improvement and present solutions through change management
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field required 
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with underground mine geology or exploration, preferred
  • Experience with leading technical team with strong interdepartmental communication skills preferred
  • Experience building ore body knowledge & geologic domains preferred
  • Familiarity with Leapfrog, Deswik, Vulcan, and Acquire software preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing required
  • Team leader with the ability to work collaboratively within a coordinated and agile multidisciplinary team, regardless of reporting structure required
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision required
