What you will be doing:
- Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget development and execution of capital projects.
- Provide electrical engineering and design from concept through hand-off using the established PESHA process.
- Manage contractors to ensure safe and productive execution of work.
- Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
- Perform engineering tasks including problem-solving, design calculations, equipment selection, proposal reviews, and drawing management.
- Ensure proper operation and safety of equipment and processes.
- Recommend and implement changes to improve manufacturing value and system performance.
- Ensure processes are capable, controlled, and meet delivery and cost targets.
- Be present on the shop floor as needed, including accessing equipment via ladders or high reaches to evaluate progress and troubleshoot issues.
Experience you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an electrical engineer, with a strong background in capital project lifecycle.
- Proven success in electrical power and controls engineering, including equipment specification, installation, and hand-off to operations.
- Experience installing mill-grade equipment.
- Design or supervisory design experience in electrical systems, primarily 480VAC.
- Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Rockwell preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: Experience in combustion, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Preferred: Background in extrusion, casting, and fabrication operations.
- Preferred: Familiarity with electrical control systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial automation.
- Preferred: Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and other relevant electrical safety standards.
