GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  

Must have good vision/sight (must meet industry standards), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary. Must be team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated. Must have good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to sit in low light room for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be willing to work any shift. Must be willing to be cross trained within the department classifications. Must pass (70% or above) a preliminary aptitude test.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Must have a minimum of 3000 hours of on-the-job training specific to Wellman, if experience from previous employment, Wellman will determine if it meets the requirements specific to Wellman and its customer specifications.
  • Must complete formal training certification of a Level 1 Shooter and an additional 40 hours of training per the requirement of a Level 2 Reader.
  • Must be able to pass a general, specific, and practical exam within determined time frame allotted for newly hired employee and recertify every five years during employment.
  • Must be able to pass an annual eye exam demonstrating no color discrimination or acceptable acuity.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a State Radiation Safety card and maintain all level 1 shooter certification as well as all level 2 required certifications.
  • Must be able to read film to identify defects on castings and mark them for acceptance or rejection. 
  • Must be able to work independently but have good communication between multiple departments, shooters, and engineering. 
  • Must be able to follow and identify different parts and customer requirement through reading work instructions and communication.
  • Must be able to use gauges and identify the correct techniques were used by the shooter and communicate any discrepancies to the supervisor and shooter. 
  • Must be able to identify and discuss techniques used by the shooter and assist with correcting discrepancies. 
  • Must be able to identify serial numbers and shooter identification on film to ensure the correct film is for the correct casting produced. 
  • Must be able to read and record results of inspection with the work instruction and direction of the Responsible Level 3. 
  • Must be able to recognize poor quality of the film and take necessary step to correct. 
  • Must have a through understanding of the scope and limitation of the radiographic method. 
  • Must be able to keep accurate records determined by the standards set forth by the company and customer
