Additional Information About the Role

Barnes Jewish West County Hospital is a new state of the art facility that opened for patient care in November 2019.  We are looking for a Staff Educator that can become part of a learning and growing team.

 

Position Highlights:

  • Monday-Friday
    •  7:00A-3:00/4:00P
    • May need to flex hours depending on unit needs
    • No nights or holidays
  • Focus will pre-op/post-op/PACU at BJWC and an outpatient surgery center 
  • BSN needed and minimum 2 years nursing experience

Preferred requirements:

  • Pre-op/post-op/PACU or critical care experience 
  • Need to be comfortable with Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge and practice of evidence based medicine preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills 

 


Overview

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.

 

 

The Department of Professional Practice oversees the initial and ongoing educational training for the nursing staff. Much of the work involve maintaining nursing competencies, the development of nursing policies and procedures, and oversight of the Professional Nurse Development Program. (PNDP) and students coming into the hospital for clinical practicums.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates ongoing educational and professional development activities and programs for clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Collaborates with staff and representatives of other organizations to develop, present and or evaluate clinically focused training, continuing education and or professional development opportunities.
  • Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with leadership to assess the educational needs of the staff and develops appropriate education plan.
  • Participates in professional development and life long learning.
