Overview

  • Under general supervision performs a variety of routine-to-skilled general and preventive maintenance duties performed in repair, alteration and modification of buildings, equipment, and facilities.
  • Provide exceptional guest service.
  • Keep a clean and safe work area.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and working conditions; maintains routine records and determines type and extent of malfunction of equipment and, as necessary, adjusts, disassembles, and repairs or replaces parts or components, reassembles and tests for proper operation. Reports more serious problems to the supervisor for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
  • May attend gas-fired hot water boilers and heaters; may make necessary adjustments to ensure proper steam pressure, combustion/water flow, water level, and proper operation of safety devices and auxiliary equipment. Tests boiler water and adds chemicals as necessary.
  • May service and make repairs to heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including fans, motors, radiators, thermostats, dampers, and regulating controls; replace filters and fluids as necessary; and will maintain routine records of repairs, etc.
  • Performs a variety of general semiskilled-to-skilled maintenance, alteration and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities as assigned or in accordance to basic skills and abilities, and standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as moving supplies, furniture, equipment, removing trash, scrap material, and replacing light bulbs, may be required to lift to 100 pounds.
  • Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and directed.

 

 

 

 

 

Hotel Maintenance Responsibilities

The Facilities Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the hotel guest experience by ensuring all hotel facilities, systems, and guestrooms are safe, functional, and well‑maintained.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs in hotel guestrooms, suites, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and service corridors.
  • Diagnosing and repair guestroom issues include:
    • Plumbing fixtures (toilets, sinks, showers, drains)
    • Conduct routine inspections of guestrooms and hotel common areas to identify maintenance needs before they impact guests.
    • Perform preventive maintenance during room turns, out‑of‑service periods, or low‑occupancy windows as scheduled.
    • Assist with maintaining room readiness standards in coordination with Housekeeping and Front Office.
    • HVAC units and thermostats
    • Electrical outlets, switches, lighting, and televisions
    • Doors, locks, hinges, cabinetry, and furniture hardware
    • Respond promptly to guestroom maintenance requests to minimize guest disruption and support positive guest experiences
    • Maintain hotel lobbies, restrooms, storage areas, laundry rooms, and service spaces in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
    • Repair flooring, walls, ceilings, fixtures, and finishes as needed to meet brand and property appearance standards.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping and Front Desk, to prioritize and resolve hotel‑related maintenance issues.
  • Communicate professionally with team members and guests when addressing maintenance needs in occupied rooms.
  • Follow established procedures when entering occupied or vacant guestrooms.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent; three-to-six months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: 

    • Strong guest service skills and the ability to ask questions and apply deductive reasoning and listening skills are essential.

Pay Range

USD $18.00 - USD $21.00 /Hr.
